The first link is an article regarding
Post Traumatic Stress
Syndrome.
It describes the stress disorders that the vets experienced when they returned to the U.S. It names organizations that are concerned with the issue of Post Traumatic Stress Disorders. This site is a book by Dr. Jim Goodwin. It might be usefull for people who would like to know more about Post traumatic stress Disorders, or vets seeking help.
the Next is an article by Lloyd Austin, a Vietnam vet, which
responds to a
psychological study
by Dr. Roxanne Silver. Austin feels that Dr. Silver classifies all Vets as being
violent, angry and hostile. He believes she is trying to scapegoat veterans,
while appearing to be relating the stories of vets. Mr. Austin concludes that Dr.
Silver's study is unethical because Vietnam veterans are really not the terrible
monsters she portrays.
The Third article, similar to the article by Lloyd Austin, is Attacking Comments made in an article that offended Vietnam veterans, and was actually written from the point of view of the vets themselves. Professor Lopez, the author of the offending article, explains that comments described in the article were taken out of context and he didn't intend the comments to be derogatory or hurtful.
The Last article is a News Page with a list of various occurrences in the news involving veterans. These articles would probably be most interesting to veterans themselves than our other sources would be. The site describes the lifestyle, health care difficulties, and other problems that Vietnam vets have had since they came back from Vietnam. The article also discusses the Travis Hospital Bill, signed by President Clinton on September 28.
