What is the Governing Council, and what does it do?

The Governing Council is the legislative body of the student government at Horace Mann. The GC holds meetings no less than once per month. At those meetings students and faculty propose resolutions and bills which the council discusses, and then votes upon. The agenda of the upcoming meeting is now available online.

What has the Governing Council done?

The Fifteen-Minute Rule. Keeping the cafeteria open later. Creating a teacher evaluation system. Keeping the library open after school. These are just some of the things the Governing Council has done over the past few years. Minutes and legislation from the current Governing Council can be read online.

Who are the representatives?

The Member Directory contains a list of all the representatives and their e-mail addresses. The Governing Council is made up of thirty students and fifteen faculty. The Chair of the Governing Council is Meredith Finn (12) and the Secretary is Raj Hathiramani (10).
